• Analyze the Great West by creating a presentation about an idea, person or event from the era of Westward Expansion.
• Identify the Great Plains, Homestead Act, Sand Creek Massacre, Sitting Bull, George Custer, assimilation and the Dawes Act.
• Analyze the cause and effect of American attitudes toward Native Americans in the mid 19th century.
• Identify the elements which led to the growth of farming and agriculture on the Great Plains.
• Analyze the geographical aspects of the West to understand the technological requirements to settle the West.
