Objectives:

  • Explain and justify the events behind the first shots fired in the Civil War at Ft. Sumter.
  • Discuss the reasons for the North and South leader’s shortsightedness about the war.
  • Identify the terms Ft. Sumter, Anaconda Plan, Iron Clad, Antietam and Shiloh.
  • Explain Lincoln’s motives for issuing the Emancipation Proclamation and the documents’ effects.
  • Examine a primary resource and interpret the complex message behind a seemingly straightforward event.
  • Identify the significance of the 54th Regiment and Robert Shaw and analyze its to explain whether there was “Glory” in their actions.
  • Explain the effects of the Civil War on the Southern Region of U.S.

Take out Chromebooks and Playlists.  Go to unit 5 and open Collaborative Folder

Activities:

  1. Open GV: Glory assignment/Guide through clips and discuss questions
  2. Review choice assign Due 11/15:
    • To score a 2:  #11 Ch 11 Sec 1-5 VOC AND #12 Ch 11 Sec 1-5 VOC Quiz
    • To score a 3:   GV: Glory AND GR The Civil War
    • To score a 4:  What’s Up Doc? Emancipation Proclamation! for background  AND The Confederate Myth Discussion

  • Analyze the effectiveness of each leader in the fight for Vietnamese independence.

Bell Ringer:

Each Group Submit Presentations

Activities:

  1. Present Perspectives/Take Notes on Evaluations
  2. Write Evaluation Paragraph and 15min

After breaking into groups of 3-4, open the Assign 4 Perspectives/ Ho, Diem, the US and Thieu.
