Objective:  Analyze the differences between the Democrat-Republicans and Federalists.

1.  Bell Ringer:  What is the main difference between the Democrat Republicans and Federalists?

2.  Go over Lecture Notes 13 as a whole group.

3.  Begin working on the Democrat Republican and Federalist campaign slogans.

4.  HW:  Complete Lecture Notes 13 in notebook

IB History of the Americas


Analyze campaign materials from the 1828 Presidential election and interpret their effect on the American Political landscape.

Interpret ideas about federal vs. state control as argued through the Articles of Confederation up to and including the ratification of the US constitution.

Provide and in depth analysis of the effectiveness of both the Articles and Constitution on American Politics.

 1.  Bell Ringer:  Copy Jefferson to Jackson Notes

2.  Discuss the Document Based Analysis Project 1828 Election and place students into groups.

3.  Place the Campaign Material Analysis Chart… on the board/overhead and then show students the 2007 campaign ads.

4.  Finally, show students where they can find their specific campaign ads at the IB site.

5.  HW:  Read AP Ch. 13 pg. 256-72
